¡Hola a tod@s! 19-20 will be my 6th year teaching Spanish to 8th graders in Marion, Iowa (Cedar Rapids Metro Area). I teach 3 sections of High School credit Spanish 1, and 3 sections of Intro to Spanish. I am relatively new to CI and TPRS methods and am looking forward to learning a ton at this conference. I dipped my toes into the world of Sr. Wooly last year and my students and I LOVED it. I also read 'La Piñata de Renata' with my students at the end of last year and that went very well. Next year my Intro to Spanish PLC and I are changing the curriculum to Martina Bex's SOMOS units 1-8, 4 leveled beginning novels and mini Sr. Wooly units. My biggest challenge for incorporating CI/TPRS is with my Spanish 1s. I am still tied to a textbook curriculum (Realidades) and common assessments with the other Middle School and the High School. I would love any advice from those in a similar situation who make that work. I'm looking forward to connecting with other FL educators and learning a ton!
